Peach says: One of the most important qualities for success — be teachable. To be a disciple of Jesus, is to be a student of Jesus. He has so much to teach us. Both directly and indirectly. A wise, sweet woman, my pastor’s mother, once told me she liked to be careful to learn from others’s example, whether good or bad. Because observing can teach us, ‘Whoops! Don’t want to do that!’ Or ‘Wow! That was a kind and smart thing to do!’
All of the New Testement is about teaching, instruction, discipleship. As followers of Christ we are to seek to learn His ways. He will more than make Himself available.
“11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.” – Proverbs 21:11-12.
Have you ever had the responsibility to train a student or coworker? And if so, you may know, a teachable candidate makes the whole experience so rewarding. And, if you’ve ever had that certain candidate that you just can’t tell them anything, you know how frustrating it can be, as well as unproductive. Because they just are not receptive to what you have to teach or train them!
Lord, show us Your ways, teach us Your paths!
