Hummingbirds

Batman Says:

Hummingbirds, cool little creatures that buzz around almost always unnoticed by us clumsy humans. Beautifully colored feathers, wings beating 900 bazillion miles per hour (don’t go there, they beat really fast). One of those funny little birds that does it’s job (pollinating) without a care what we think.

I, for one, think this is an excellent attitude to have. Imagine if more people were focusing their attention on what they were doing, instead of worrying about what everyone else was doing. I mean think about it, if we are honest with ourselves, we would realize that we probably are worrying about other people’s job performance, their personal lives, how they dress, or their opinions, about 90% of the time. It bothers us how others do things, don’t do things, say things or not, voice their opinions or not, when instead, we would be more productive and be happier if we only worried about ourselves. I’m not talking isolationism, I’m talking about paying attention to your wants and needs, instead of being upset that “Bob or Susan” got a raise or promotion when they “never do anything”. Focus on you, the right people will know who does what eventually, and if not, I bet you will still be happier, concerning yourself with your stuff, instead of others.

Be like the hummingbird, eat drink and be happy just being you.

Yes Peach I know I need to refill the bird feeders…”

Hi!! Thanks for dropping in! We are just a couple of high school sweethearts married 36+ years, who love Jesus, each other, life, our family, our country, traveling, taking pictures, teaching people about guns, books, movies, music, British murder mysteries, and cooking! We have a little bit of everything going on! Come on in!

The only critique that counts is God’s. How he thinks about us is wildly more important than how others think about us and the job we do. Thanks for sharing this amazing truth.

Lovebirds of 34+ years? Oh my! You two have the secret to happiness! What is your sage advice for longevity in relationships? Maybe you can write a long post of how you have survived together so long?

Peace,
Eric

Hi, Eric!

I think you are right. You are welcome, and thank you for dropping by!

Actually, you reminded Peach to update that! It’s 36 and counting now! We definitely have some stories to tell, I’m sure that will happen here and there. I think we would both say there would be no story without that third person you really need! Jesus makes all the difference!

Take care,
Batman

Yesterday was a blur, like *my* attempts at photographing hummingbirds, but I stop by belatedly to say your images of the li’l blitzers are beautiful! Thank you for sharing, and for the timely reminder to not get caught up in what others may be doing. Needed that. Happy day to you and Peach, from Peri
