Inertia

Peach says:

Inertia: “A property of matter by which it remains at rest or in uniform motion in the same straight line unless it is acted upon by some external force…(this is the money line right here) Indisposition to motion, exertion, or change šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø.: INERTNESS”: — Merriam Webster Dictionary.

You know, I never thought this would be a problem for me. I’ve always been an active person. When we were raising our boys, and I was career mom, rushing around like my pants were on fire, it was not unusual to get to bed at midnight-thirty and be up at 3:45, maybe 4:00. To have time alone with Jesus, in His Word, time to pray. Then I had two teaching shows I liked, that I’d watch while the boys were getting up and I’d start making lunches. Back then breakfast was all about toast or pop tarts or cereal! (Try not to judge! Lol!)

Then it was shower and get ready for work and drive them all across town for their schools. Rush, rush, rush. Never felt the lack of sleep, until maybe Thursday. I can remember that being the day it might hit some, but Friday’s had new, though tired, energy, because FRIDAY!!!

We were at church three times a week, sometimes more. But, the entirety of my life, from childhood, I had a gift of initiative, and I married a man who was blessed with it as well, as well as determination. So go was the norm. Fortunately, we are also homebodies, and always knew how to be at home and content and sort of decompress with the kids.

But, this season in life has me having to use determination, just to get basic things done. Things I’ve always taken for granted doing, I have to schedule them and talk myself into, and sort of pick my days to do certain things, and ration my energy. I’m just being honest. We are way too young in my mind for such inertia! I don’t know what else to call it!! Batman really is too disciplined for it to get him. But, it has got me. It’s like another health issue (‘like’ not an actual health issue, but like one) layered on top of my other health issues.

(You can see that today after a nice range class we gave, Batman was kind enough to give me some much needed practice time! We were productive! 😁)

I just keep plugging away! Sort of like Dory on Finding Nemo! ‘Just keep swimming!

I find this verse appropriate in this part of life, and I am sure Batman and I, will both continue to: “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven:” — Ecclesiastes 3:1.

The entire chapter is true and relevant, and the cadence to it lends itself to the rhythm of life. The days roll by, then the years evolve, and before you know it those boys have given you new family members to love and nurture and relish! First their ladies, then their children! And your nest is now empty, and all at once you are like newlyweds dating again!

There’s definitely a trade off for the things we miss in this part of life! I’d say it more than makes up for it all! Life is sweet, and getting sweeter every day.

I think the ‘indisposition’ to change is something I have also struggled with. And I see it in my friends my age. It shows up in ways different than we might think. Not understanding some changes in relationships and wondering what we did wrong. And then suddenly realizing, it might not be anything we did wrong. It might just be their season changing, and so our part in their life is not the same now. This goes for friendships, and family relationships. It’s ok. Just love. Just pray. Just believe. Believe all the promises of God you have prayed for them, for that, for it all. Don’t stay up in the dark of night trying to figure it all out. (No, really don’t do that! It will make that inertia thing so much worse! Lol!).

Also, as Joyce Meyers likes to remind us. We are NOT the Holy Spirit. Other people in our lives? We are not going to give an account to the Lord for their life, but for ours! If we will have faith, don’t cling, let go, pray and love, we ‘will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living’! (Psalm 27).

It’s almost time to get on that tread mill!! Y’all pray for me! Lol!

Batman and I hope your week is blessed!
