At the Workplace

Batman says:

Ever had that boss or coworker that just has to be right, has to be done their way or it’s wrong or stupid? Welcome to adulthood, where EVERYONE thinks their way is the only way something can or should be done. Yep, I fall in this category to at times, but knowing this I try and see another’s point of view and if an idea is better, then I grudgingly acquiesce to that way, usually after huffing and puffing around a bit.

Now I admit it readily and I am working on doing better at fixing it, but there are some, who no matter what, cannot seem to admit they have the same issues. These individuals are usually in positions that have a direct and proximate effect on others. They are the top of the tier, and those directing and or planning how others will do things. Without fail, they are highly educated, both academically and job field related training, or they have absolutely no job related skills and are in their position do to management training or education.

The common worker, the one that goes out and actually performs the tasks are more often than not, left out of ANY discussions on how the job they do should be done. These ‘expert’ bosses, have forgotten how, or never really did know, how the job is done in real life. They go to academies, they go to conferences, they attend training seminars and come back full of ‘great ideas’ on how the common worker should not only do the job, but how they should act and feel while doing it.

The gist of this musing is hopefully to inspire those that are in the position to make changes, to ask the worker bee, and their line supervisors for input and actually CONSIDER what is said to see if it has merit and not just disregard it out of hand because some class or group meeting you attended said their way was best.

Sometimes the least academically educated person in the room has the most of what 99% of us need and that’s COMMON SENSE.

Protectors

Batman says:

As someone who has the utmost respect for Police Officers worldwide, and Soldiers from all countries doing what they are ordered to do, I am writing this very rare (for me) serious post.

The ability to push past pain and fear to do something that may cost your life is the, in my opinion, the definition of bravery. Risking your life, sometimes giving your life to protect others is what these ‘Heroes’ do daily. No matter where you are from in this great world that God created for us, there is someone who has or is willing to risk their life to protect you from harm if you are in need.

Say a prayer for these people, you don’t have to agree with them, you don’t have to like them, you don’t even have to think of them, they are there always, risking their lives to allow you the peace to live life as you see it, and in my humble opinion it makes them Heroes.

P.C. Keith Palmer my brother in blue, I will someday meet you at Heavens gate and proudly shake your hand saying thank you for your service and “we’ll done’.

Here is a a prayer for all “Protectors” :

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

Grant me the strength to always do what’s right, and the willingness to be the shield to protect the innocent from harms way, Amen

God bless all of you.

Priorities

Peach says: There comes a certain time where we realize the brevity of life, the fragility of it, the prescious gift that it is. We become aware of the fact the we only have a certain number of Christmases or 4th of July Independence Day celebrations. We begin to make choices on a daily basis, to hopefully, with the Grace of God and the Holy Spirit guiding us, make choices that will help us make the most constructive impact for our loved ones, our community, the Kingdom of God, and the world. Use that extra few hours to go visit your parents, enjoy old memories, listen to their wisdom. Use that afternoon to help your sibling, or your Uncle. Take that long put off anniversary trip! Go to church, you can sleep any time! Watch TV? Or write? Read FB or read your Bible? Or your new Jentzen Franklin book? Or how about, do you once again pick up that other shift at work? Maybe that’s right. Or instead do you take that day with your spouse and go take pictures, and drop in on your son who lives out of town, and go to dinner? You only have so many days. Use them to do things that last. To know the Lord more, to love on others, to serve, to build.

A major verse in our life this year is from Psalm 90:12 — “12 So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom”. To number as used in the verse means to set, to assign, to appoint, to tell. In other words, we have a role to play, God given authority to purposefully set, assign, appoint, to tell (declare) what our given days shall prioritize, according to His wisdom at work in us! So, go! Live, love, serve, have faith! Believe! He is good! Taste and see His mercy endures forever!

Ham

Batman says:

Ham? No not the other white meat although a bowl of beans and ham would be good about now but I digress (hehe fancy word eh?). The Peach and I are Technician Class ham radio operators, although we don’t talk much on it, we still have fun learning stuff. We are going to Orlando in a week to the HAMCATION or in English giant ham radio swap meet, and we are taking her mum and dad and plan to generally have a good ole time. Anyways for those that’s aren’t Hams, each ‘class’ is allowed to talk on certain frequencies and when u get to the top License you can use all available frequencies. This leads me to my point kinda, in my area with my license I can talk on 2 meter mostly, and there are ‘repeaters’ to help me be able to reach farther than my dinky set up normally allows. Clubs put these repeaters up and maintain them which is pretty cool. For the most part the system works quite well until certain people get on and take over the repeater not allowing much other radio traffic due to their taking up so much radio time. Ham is a community of like minded peeps that for the most part are courteous and respectful, but listening to someone discuss gas or other personal issues is not something most people want to listen to. I know it has on more than one occasion made me turn my radio off and not want to bother. Peach and I like to say hello to each other if we are apart and make sure each other is ok, our conversations revolve around those things, we don’t talk long, and normally just listen.

I guess the point is, if your a Ham, be courteous of your time on a repeater and your speech, it portrays a much better impression on people who aren’t Hams but might want to become one, as well as Hams that are new and trying to learn and be courteous.

This would work well in regular life to…

Establish the Work of Our Hands

Good Monday Morning!! Peach here! Hope this morning finds you in hope and great expectations! I like to start the week with a focus of good expectation, from the goodness of our God, and with that; a prayer and declaration, based on His Word, for myself and my loved 301AAFD9-1B29-4954-BB64-684A4B189765ones. Thought I’d share this with you: “Let Your work [the signs of Your power] be revealed to Your servants, and Your [glorious] majesty to their children.
And let the beauty and delightfulness and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands—yes, the work of our hands, confirm and establish it.” – Psalm 90:16-17

Protect Yours

Get your license, permit, whatever it takes to Carry a Firearm to protect yourself and your loved ones in this crazy mixed up world we live in. Go to a reputable class that covers ALL the statutes pertaining to CCW, you will learn so much more that the cost of admission covers, take friends and or family, but get it done. The worse time to need a gun is when you don’t have it.

1 + 1 = 1

E7A607BB-6B29-4014-A425-26ED8E54BD1ASays Peach: Nope! That’s not Common Core!! It’s the beautiful mystery of the mathematic principal of marriage!! One of the reasons we are doing this blog, is we have been extremely blessed to enjoy a whole lot of love, life and years together. Wouldn’t have been possible without Jesus. Plain and simple and no apologies for saying so.  And in a world where marriage is becoming increasingly rare and increasingly put off until later, we hope to occasionally throw out some insight on the benefits of sticking together, being forgiving, being kind to each other, having each other’s backs, being creative at loving and serving one another, being each other’s advocate, cheer leader, comic support! Marriage will never not be a sacred gift from God, to help us and equip us to to do this thing called life!! “Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9

Shape

Batman says: If you can’t bend over and tie your shoes without getting out of breath, you should probably consider a bit of exercise. I am not talking about being stupid about it and running off for a gym membership and spending money that is better put to use elsewhere, I’m talking about going for a walk, riding a bike, swimming, or treadmill… oh heck you get the idea. Move your sedentary butt a bit and lose a few inches. You will feel better, look better and live longer in the end. I want to live a long healthy life to annoy Peach as long as she will put up with me, so once again I find myself exercising because I have packed on a few pounds, but, good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, I’ll get down to fighting weight and pester her a bit longer

Y’all take care now ya hear?

Winding, Foggy Roads

302E6837-F7F1-4F76-A39D-72B033B17D57

Peach says: These are pictures from our departure from Biltmore Estates this past December. Wonderful trip. Short, and packed with fun! The fog and rain was so pretty. Batman handled the roads with a relaxed ease I could not have managed, (No, really! I don’t drive on the interstate or bridges! So really!) As I was looking at these pictures, I thought how often life takes us up and down and around, in paths that are sometimes sunny, but also sometimes foggy, sometimes uncertain. That’s ok. Take the rain, the fog, the sun the same. Take it with faith that God goes before you. He’s got your back. He’s at your side. You’re in Him and He’s in you. Don’t mind all those curves and dips. It’s so much prettier a ride than the straight and level road.
