The Adventures and Musings of Peach and Batman

Batman says:

Ham? No not the other white meat although a bowl of beans and ham would be good about now but I digress (hehe fancy word eh?). The Peach and I are Technician Class ham radio operators, although we don’t talk much on it, we still have fun learning stuff. We are going to Orlando in a week to the HAMCATION or in English giant ham radio swap meet, and we are taking her mum and dad and plan to generally have a good ole time. Anyways for those that’s aren’t Hams, each ‘class’ is allowed to talk on certain frequencies and when u get to the top License you can use all available frequencies. This leads me to my point kinda, in my area with my license I can talk on 2 meter mostly, and there are ‘repeaters’ to help me be able to reach farther than my dinky set up normally allows. Clubs put these repeaters up and maintain them which is pretty cool. For the most part the system works quite well until certain people get on and take over the repeater not allowing much other radio traffic due to their taking up so much radio time. Ham is a community of like minded peeps that for the most part are courteous and respectful, but listening to someone discuss gas or other personal issues is not something most people want to listen to. I know it has on more than one occasion made me turn my radio off and not want to bother. Peach and I like to say hello to each other if we are apart and make sure each other is ok, our conversations revolve around those things, we don’t talk long, and normally just listen.

I guess the point is, if your a Ham, be courteous of your time on a repeater and your speech, it portrays a much better impression on people who aren’t Hams but might want to become one, as well as Hams that are new and trying to learn and be courteous.

Batman says: If you can’t bend over and tie your shoes without getting out of breath, you should probably consider a bit of exercise. I am not talking about being stupid about it and running off for a gym membership and spending money that is better put to use elsewhere, I’m talking about going for a walk, riding a bike, swimming, or treadmill… oh heck you get the idea. Move your sedentary butt a bit and lose a few inches. You will feel better, look better and live longer in the end. I want to live a long healthy life to annoy Peach as long as she will put up with me, so once again I find myself exercising because I have packed on a few pounds, but, good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, I’ll get down to fighting weight and pester her a bit longer

Peach says: These are pictures from our departure from Biltmore Estates this past December. Wonderful trip. Short, and packed with fun! The fog and rain was so pretty. Batman handled the roads with a relaxed ease I could not have managed, (No, really! I don’t drive on the interstate or bridges! So really!) As I was looking at these pictures, I thought how often life takes us up and down and around, in paths that are sometimes sunny, but also sometimes foggy, sometimes uncertain. That’s ok. Take the rain, the fog, the sun the same. Take it with faith that God goes before you. He’s got your back. He’s at your side. You’re in Him and He’s in you. Don’t mind all those curves and dips. It’s so much prettier a ride than the straight and level road.

Peach here! Batman and I are making an adventure of this blogging thing! We are in that sweet spot of life, between the children are grown and on their own, (don’t like to refer to the nest as empty!!) and not retired…YET!! We love to shoot, cook, travel, take pictures, read, watch movies, ride bikes, be with any of our family, just hang out together, and now…THIS! We hope this will be a great way to share fun things, chat about life, and just generally be Batman and Peach hanging with friends!
