Sparkling Water!!

7BDB8030-FFA5-4266-BCAC-9F23588A51A6.jpegPeach says: I once had a dream where I was getting water out of the fridge to drink, just like was my habit in my waking. As I pictured myself doing so,  (it was like I was watching myself do so) I heard in my mind The Lord telling me “If you will always drink this water, you will always be with me”.

Was He giving me health tips? Not exactly.  We know clean, clear, ‘sparkling’ water IS healthy and vital for our well being. Both to hydrate our bodies, in order that they will be able to function properly, and also to be clean.

The Hebrew sages taught that ‘as in the natural, so in the spiritual’. That nature is a beautiful thing of function and beauty, pleasure, wonder and necessity, as it is also a living, breathing, teaching tool, an illustration of God’s principles in all kinds of times, in all kinds of ways.

Did you know an adult man’s body is about 55%-60% water? But a newborn infant is about 78% water? Within a year that decreases to about 65%.

In Ephesians 5, as Paul explained to sacredness of the gift of  marriage, he pointed to the similarities of the relationship between a husband and wife, and the relationship between our Lord and His Church.  In doing so, Paul described how the Lord tenderly cares for the Church, His Body, by ‘the washing of water by the Word.’ 5A5F6710-47DF-4209-BB1D-E6274D0E2576

When Jesus was passing through Samaria, he made sure to be at the communal well, so he could meet a certain woman, a Samaritan, who had a reputation, having had many husbands and currently spending time with a man not her husband. This meant it was best for her to draw her necessary water at a time most other ladies weren’t around. As she worked to draw water, Jesus asked her for water. She was perplexed, as she knew he was a Jew and they had no dealings with her people, the Samaritans, in those days. She asked Him why He would be having anything to do with her, as their people groups did not interact.

13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but WHOEVER drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” – John 4:13-15. A76B2027-A669-4A6F-A862-7F478871BBF5

JESUS is the Living Word. The Word made flesh. The Expression of God the Father, in the way we needed Him, a tangible way we could experience Him, and so that we might be saved through His sacrifice. He not only washes us with the water by the Word, He IS the Word, and the Living Water! Not only has He saved us, (if we have put our faith in Him as our Saviour!), but He has also provided the means for us to be sanctified, (set apart for His use) through the ‘washing’ of us with ‘the water’ of His Word. Every time we get in His Word, we are refreshed, cleansed, made lively and fit for His service! Better able to function at our Godly best. I love how He expressed it in John 7. “37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” – John 7:37-39.

Not only would He GIVE us water, but He would make His home in us, through His Holy Spirit, to be our unending supply!

Just think, nothing dirty, nothing unclean, can stay that way, being continuously washed over, poured through, with fresh clear water. Though we live in a fallen world, and we were born fallen people, and are surrounded by fallen people, we who believe, are INDEED born again, made fresh and new! He continues His transformative work in us, day by day, experience after experience, and washes away our grime, and the mud of the world, the grit of the parching of life, in what can at times feel like the desert, by washing His Word over our weary souls, our sometimes clouded minds! He lets His Holy Spirit bubble up inside of us, to remind us of the Goodness of Our Father, and our identity as His Son or Daughter, as well as the fact that we are IN the world, but not OF the World. The FACT that the Greater One LIVES IN US!! How great is that? Hard to stay down when we dwell on these life transforming truths!

I like to think as we immerse ourselves in His Word, to learn HIS perspective on life and our purpose and the challenges we face, but also the promises to thrive He has given us, we, a sip at a time, become more hydrated, more like the newborn child, more at 78% water than at 55%-60%! “ 16 But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.17 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” – Luke 18:16-17.

Have a great week!

Love!

Peach

God’s Armor over Me?

Batman says:

Had an experience that just shows the Man upstairs (God you dorks, not your upstairs neighbor) has ways to protect us every day even though we have no idea he is doing so.

Here’s how the picture attached came about, Peach and I have a son (we have two sons to be precise, but since the other wasn’t involved, I only mentioned the one {if I didn’t clarify all God’s available armor couldn’t protect me from Peach reminding me we have two} as the conversation with him led to this.

I like to hunt, some find this horrible and that’s ok, most people have several opinions that don’t match mine. My son (the one I was originally talking about) and I were discussing the possibility of getting together and going hunting next December someplace we had never been. Research led us to decide a muzzle loader hunt would probably suit us best. Now those who are not gun knowledgeable are going “a what Hunt?” and that’s an appropriate question if you’re not gun savvy. So here is the easy version, a muzzle loading gun (black powder gun, smoke pole, musket, and a host of others) is loaded from the muzzle end (the end the bullet comes out) you put an appropriate amount of black powder (or in my case a pellet of synthetic gunpowder) in the muzzle, a projectile (sometimes wrapped in a patch sometimes in a plastic sleeve called a sabot) and push them down the barrel as far as they will go with a rod. The gun is then fitted with a percussion cap or a “shotgun” primer, cocked and fired (this is overly simplified but should give you an idea).

To unload my style muzzle loader, you can shoot it (which means cleaning it after) or you can take off the primer cap or shotgun primer, remove the breech plug, take the same rod u pushed the round and pellets in with and push them farther in till they fall out the open breech, thereby rendering the gun safe. If I plan to hunt later that day or the next morning I will sometimes just remover the primer cap, put the gun in the case until the next day, and so on and so on.

Anyways, this hunting decision being made convinced me to pull out the old “smoke pole” and give it the once over just because. Now I am pretty gun safe but even I do screw up from time to time and freely admit this fact. I haven’t hunted with the old muzzle loader in two years, and it’s been in a hard case in the safe nice and comfy. Once I get the gun out and dusted off I pull the breech plug out and look in the barrel (black powder and pyrodex synthetic pellets are highly corrosive) to see if there were signs of rust or corrosion. Imagine my surprise, I could not see a thing, it was pitch black. Point barrel at bright light coming in window, still black…hmmmm. Whip out ye old push rod and insert into muzzle and out pops two pellets and a bullet and sabot, Ha! just forgot to unload it I suppose, stupid but does happen, like I said I do make mistakes like all humans, and God keeps pushing us back on track. Now with that done I pull the rod out and look down the barrel, still black and I’m totally confused, I put the rod in, and push out two more pellets and another bullet in a sabot.

You could have pushed me over with a feather (not an easy feat I’m not a little guy) from the stunned sensation I had. Some how I had loaded one complete load on top of another during the last time I used it to hunt. Had no idea, but God did, his intervention then by not letting me see any animal worth shooting, and then in not letting me shoot it to unload it at the end of the season, and finally in making me want to give it a look when I did, all equaled to me not blowing the gun up in my face (Peach wouldn’t be happy with me coming home with a barrel stuck in my face).

You can say what you want, luck, fate, whatever, but to me it was only the hand of God and his Armor of protection that helped me avert a bad day.

…no worries Peach…

The Battle with Perfect

Peach says: I struggle with all or nothing thinking. If I can’t get it juuuuussstt right, at this moment, then I trick myself into wait for a better moment in time. 🤦‍♀️ I often think I have whooped it, then look around and take inventory and realize it’s still an issue!! 🤷‍♀️

We live in a fallen, imperfect world, we are born fallen and imperfect people! There’s not going to be a ‘perfect’ circumstance 98% of the time. That does not excuse us from action! There’s not going to be a perfect time 98% of the time, yet we are obligated, have purpose and responsibility to act and do the best we can!

I am most effective in God’s purpose for me, when I just hit the ground in prayer and action, trusting Him to be my grace, my favor, my wisdom, provision and timing! When I think about it from what the Lord shares with us in His Word, I would rather trade perfection, for momentum!!

20 So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. ENTER INTO THE JOY OF YOUR LORD.’

24 Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I WAS AFRAID, AND WENT AND HID your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’

26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.

29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’” – Matthew 25:20-30

I don’t want to reach my finish line with the regrets that I wish I had done more with my time, my opportunities, the grace He gives me every day.

I also want to be focused, as an important part of this! I feel like as in a dramatic action movie moment, where the hero urgently tells the heroine “Look at me”, in other words don’t look down, don’t look around, whatever you do, don’t look behind you! Look at Jesus! How? Pick a verse and chew on it, pray, practice gratitude throughout your day!! This gives you a focus that will cause you to ‘seek first’ His kingdom, and His righteousness. When we are measuring our words and actions against that standard, we will make our best choices! And even when we flub it up, He is EVEN MORE there with His grace to choose forward and upward momentum!

Don’t be paralyzed by the desire of perfect into inaction and frozen thinking. Let His GRACE propel you into forward MOMENTUM!!

God’s Word is Alive!

F9A0D633-762F-46B1-BD33-4E0001462FC4

Some words in the Bible just stand out to you in a particular way. They are more ‘alive’ to you than others, (though all His Word is alive). One year the Lord put these words of His in my heart in a particular way…and they still are…maybe even more so.0123323E-28F1-4CAA-9006-F2E4E9E60338

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.” Isaiah 40:1. It’s like my favorite thing to see/hear/think/say these words!

Recently the Lord has reminded me, and refreshed them to me! And they just jump in my heart and run around when I see them now!! A friend from the past taught me that is a ‘rhema’ (pronounced RAY-muh) word. It’s when a specific portion of the Word of God is particularly, personally alive for YOU! THOSE words, those special words are TREASURES, JEWELS 💎💎 He has bestowed, entrusted to your care!! Let them have sway in your life, your heart, your mind!! You will be so glad you did!!

Television

Batman says:

Remember when television was wholesome? You were rarely embarrassed to watch it? Or scared to death of some mass murderer on the screen spraying bits and blood everywhere?

This is apparently a thing of the distant past, because everywhere you look on television there is extreme violence, sex, and gross stuff these days.

Sitting around today Peach and I tried to find SOMETHING to watch that wasn’t obscene, we failed epically because unless your into the things mentioned previously, there really isn’t much choice anymore.

I have resolved myself to going back to what we used to do when we were much younger, and that’s reading books. Television for us ADULTS doesn’t exist anymore, and the escapism we found in watching when it was less grotesque, is gone. Yep I know what the younger folks will say, and honestly, I don’t care, my blog can have my opinion, ain’t trying to change anyone else’s mind.

I believe Peach and I will revert to real books, kindles, and the Bible. In these we are transported to places the mind can create, we are lifted above our seemingly endless hardships, and taken to better places. All without the chance of being embarrassed by sex shows, or horrified by gore. We will probably not renew any tv subscriptions, and don’t think we will miss them. Now I know this won’t cause any heart ache or financial catastrophes for anyone, and that’s fine. I only know that we will sleep better, enjoy the days better, take walks, bike rides and trips better, all because we give up being glued to a screen that publishes such sewer that we are mostly embarrassed to have to watch.

Anyways, television? Hasn’t been television since the early 90’s, it became a sewer and is slowly dragging the public down the toilet with it using its content as the snare.

I’d be willing to bet, if you really thought about it, you would agree life would be better if there were no television or at least if it weren’t allowed to show the crap they are allowed to show these days.

…if your looking for me, I’ll be reading a book, don’t try to reach me through a television add…
