Bluffing

Peach says: last week Batman and I were doing our thing of sitting in our lawn chairs and enjoying the evening light and summer sounds. We had certain birds coming ’round that were so fun to watch!

In watching the birds, Batman told me about mockingbirds and how they will fluff up their wings to make a shadow on the ground to scare up critters. It reminded me of a verse I had heard the previous day, with regards to how the enemy of our souls will work to put us off our game. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8.

A Bible teacher that has been a great blessing to me is Joseph Prince, and he will often remind us that the devil may sound like a lion…but Jesus has made him toothless!! It is good to remember to be strong in the Lord and to be CONFIDENT in Him as well! He has indeed crushed the enemy! “13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” – Colossians 2:13-15.

And while the enemy of our souls seeks to whisper condemnation in our ears, oh so subtly, and then when that doesn’t work, will roar fearful thoughts in the middle of the night or on the job, in traffic, or just about anytime, and then! Then the cares of life can come rushing in, squeezing our peace out. Crowding out our thoughts of gratitude and praise, suffocating our logic, our wisdom and even our joy.

I would say one of our enemy’s primary mantras would be “Distract, Divide, Destroy”. Tonight we are considering his efforts to distract, to BLUFF, if you will.

It brings to mind a trite saying, but, trite sayings are often a ‘thing’ because there’s so much truth there, “FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real”. On several occasions I have talked with my friends in the faith, about how most things we dread NEVER happen, and nothing we dread is ever as bad or often, very often, not even bad at all. We waste essential time and emotional energy torturing ourselves for no reason. Not to say bad things don’t happen in this life. On the contrary, they will, and He will bring us all the way through, and better than we went in. In the meantime, as good soldiers in faith, in this thing called life and the here and now, we are to remember He is not the author of confusion, and also — For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7. In Him we live an move and have our being, He is never far from us, what have we to fear?

Trust me, I have these talks with myself often! It’s just recently He has been highlighting certain verses for me to point out that we unnecessarily fall for the bluff at times, and as Ephesians 5 reminds us, we are to ‘redeem the times, for the days are evil‘. I like to think of that as doing double time, making the most of our opportunities, and not falling for the toothless bluffer, or the cares of this world! Instead, I want to run this race of faith and life, side by side with my Batman!! –> “…And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.” –– Hebrews 12:1b-4.

How about it? Wanna come?

Opinions

Batman says:

Most people comment or post blogs (I believe) to express an opinion, or to give some type of information (good, bad, useful ect) that they feel others might like, want, or need. There are those that are trying to make money at it, but I think the others are the majority. They then wait and see others reactions.

My pretty girl “Peach” for example, with the calming ways, bible and religious knowledge, and the Grace she shows, could blog and make money without doubt. Peach isn’t like that, she shares verses, inspirational stuff, and anything to help anyone find God and find their way, she does this without asking for anything, just the type person she is. I read the “opinions” posted to her blogs and I’m not amazed to see how many people she reaches. Our little blog thing here is fairly new, not large on followers, but I’m sure with her posting it will grow crazily.

And now to me (squeamish, prudish, anti-fun, anti-hunters may as well stop reading right now) the goofball of this 30+ (going stronger daily) relationship. I’m more scatterbrained about this blog stuff. I just blurt out random things that honestly I’m amazed that anyone reads (you have to Peach, it’s in the contract). I am an outdoorsman, I trap, I hunt I fish I photograph, and I do it all with Peach. She has always been a part of everything I do, willingly too! and enjoys my silliness as much as I do. I find being out in Gods wilds one of the most relaxing and peaceful things one can do. Take trapping for instance, you find a place that looks like it has the type animal your looking for, you scout it, set up some cameras maybe, then you set your trap trying to fool wiley creatures. Trapping has been around forever, and to me it is fun and relaxing, alleviating stress and worries all the while enjoying being outdoors in Gods creation.

Here comes  the opinions, I’m sure, everyone has a few, and we all give them freely without being asked most times. This is the price we pay for blogging, and it’s ok. If you don’t like my posts that’s ok, if you don’t like me because I hunt, trap, fish, etc that’s ok. The world is full of different types of people, in my full time job I see most at their worst, some at their best and others in between. I have learned not to judge (Gods privilege, not mine) anyone based on appearance, likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc. Here in blog land (small island overcrowded with people) if I give a comment to a post it’s not hateful, judgemental, or condescending (at least I try not to be, we are human and all have faults). It’s not my place to convince someone with a difference of opinion who is right. Funny thing is, it’s not anyone’s place, blogging, with the exception of the money making ones, are, I think, just supposed to be sharing stuff, maybe I’m to old fashioned.

Anyways I posted this to let you have a peek at what batman does when not at his full time job, he spends it with Peach, outdoors as much as possible, admiring Gods handiwork.

Y’all tag along if ya want, should be a fun ride (at the least you can laugh at my goof ups).

Have a great day everyone

God bless ya

MORE

Peach says: “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” – John 10:10

While ‘godliness with contentment is great gain’. 1 Timothy 6:6, it is ALSO something He desires, greatly desires, you to know, that is — He is your GOOD Father, when you are in relationship, in right standing with Him, through your reliance on the perfect sacrifice of Christ Jesus on your behalf. He desires not only to work out good things for you, in you and through you, but He has goodness in store for you and WANTS you to get to know Him in these ways.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.“- Jeremiah 29:11.

“I will give you the treasures of darkness

And hidden riches of secret places,

That you may know that I, the Lord,

Who call you by your name,

Am the God of Israel.” – Isaiah 45:3 (this literally came across the TV as I was typing out this message, as the preacher was explaining ‘He is ALWAYS the God of the double portion, of more than enough’!! This coming on after the end of an entirely different message I had just watched).

Oh, how great is Your goodness,

Which You have laid up for those who fear You,

Which You have prepared for those who trust in You…!” – Psalm 31:19 (a FAVORITE of mine!)

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a REWARDER of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;

Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” – Psalm 34:8

In 2001 the Lord impressed on my heart “Trust me to do you good”. Since then I have learned of His goodness to us, in us, and that He lets us be part of. About 4 or 5 years ago, He impressed on me to make my effort to help people know of His goodness. “Oh taste and see that the Lord is GOOD;”

Today I could tell you many things, many ways He has proven Himself true and faithful over and over. But, you likely have your own stories, your own experiences! I simply want to shine a spotlight on Him, on His goodness. He desires to express that goodness, that love, that rich grace, mercy, purpose and plan for you. This world we live in is designed to distract us, hopes to overwhelm us, that we may lose heart, forget, lose our upward focus! All runners must keep focused upward and forward! All mountain climbers must focus upward and forward. JESUS IS OUR UPWARD! OUR FORWARD!

I hope you feel exhilarated and encouraged. Taste and SEE! The Lord, He IS good!!

Sleep?

Batman says:

Here I am, 00:14 hours (12:14 at nite for u non 24hr peeps) and wide awake again. Insomnia?nope just a victim of shift-work for over 23 years, currently I’m keyed on working nights. End of a 56 day rotation and Monday I’m back to day-shift. It’s a wonder people with this kind of schedule ever get good sleep and therefore good rest.

Exercise is supposed to help, but so far I’ve proved that to be hit and miss, spent 3+ hours with peach cutting grass today, was exhausted, hot and sweaty, had a good supper, watched a very small amount of television, and was in bed by 22:30. Tossed and turned and flopped like a fish out of water until I figured I would write about my misfortune at not being sleepy. Reading helps at times but I have read every book in the house at least twice, and did my bible reading for the evening when we hit the sack (Ester 9-10 if you must know).

So here I lay, awake and trying to be still so I don’t wake Peach who is finally resting (sleeping) peacefully after wrestling whatever one wrestles in ones dreams. Thoughts bombarding my brain like so many rain drops in a summer storm, ‘should I get the new pool liner?’, ‘it would be cool to get the antenna mast pretty soon’, ‘gotta get back to studying for that test’ and so on.

Then I take a breath and think how lucky I am, I’m home, I have a loving wife and great kids and grandkids. I have a roof over my head, a pretty good job and friends I can count on in a pinch, and I finally start to relax. I remember these are my days off, I should have a clear mind and enjoy what Gods given me. I lay here quietly typing out these words randomly as the thoughts appear in my head, no order, no chaos, just relaxed thoughts.

No, none of this has helped me get sleep, but it has reminded me that I am lucky and I’m being watched over by God, who in the long run, will assure I get the sleep I need and the peace I hope for.

Sometimes like the saying goes “sleep is overrated” in the great scheme of things.

Night all, rest peacefully knowing there are guardians out there every night seeking the evil most people pretend doesn’t exist. And like my fellow guardians, with gods help, that evil will not find you and yours on our watch.

Now you know why Peach named the blog “Adventures and Musings….

Cause sometimes Batman rambles aimlessly

God’s Word is Alive!

F9A0D633-762F-46B1-BD33-4E0001462FC4

Some words in the Bible just stand out to you in a particular way. They are more ‘alive’ to you than others, (though all His Word is alive). One year the Lord put these words of His in my heart in a particular way…and they still are…maybe even more so.0123323E-28F1-4CAA-9006-F2E4E9E60338

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.” Isaiah 40:1. It’s like my favorite thing to see/hear/think/say these words!

Recently the Lord has reminded me, and refreshed them to me! And they just jump in my heart and run around when I see them now!! A friend from the past taught me that is a ‘rhema’ (pronounced RAY-muh) word. It’s when a specific portion of the Word of God is particularly, personally alive for YOU! THOSE words, those special words are TREASURES, JEWELS 💎💎 He has bestowed, entrusted to your care!! Let them have sway in your life, your heart, your mind!! You will be so glad you did!!

Don’t Believe ALL the Bad News You Hear! (only some of it) and HAPPY Father’s Day!!

Peach says: First of all, I want to SHOUT OUT to my Batman for EVERY DAY WITHOUT FAIL rising to the occasion to be a father to our sons. No matter the weariness or obstacles, no matter, even once, what he ‘felt like’, he has every day, every moment rallied to the occasion to provide, set the example, and love unconditionally. He has loved with grace and with gruffness and with discipline (because love does that, read your Bible 😉) and with humor! He has loved with his presence and with his provision, and with his WORKThank You, Lord for such a man of Yours for my very own husband to do parenting, and all of life with!! May he be extra blessed today and throughout this coming year!!! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!!

And now, some Father’s Day observations. I work in retail and today I saw such an interesting phenomena. Over and over into our store came families, with Daddy, most were young families, but there were a few older families.  Every one of them happy to be there humbly and graciously providing the cute clothes, sunglasses, shoes, and bathing suits for their kids.

Might not sound like much to you, but on the ONE day out of the year designated to honor and celebrate our Dads, I think it speaks volumes to their quality of charachter to be out shoping and providing, doing the fun and the ‘extra’ for their children and their wives.

It’s all too common to hear such divisive talk between our two genders. Male and female. But, don’t believe everything you hear in the news and social media. We sure do need a bunch more JESUS, but there are STILL good people out there everywhere you go!! Look around, and you will see them! Every time I could remember to tell one of the Dads ‘Happy Father’s Day’, they lit up like a Christmas Tree! Such a simple thing!!

Father God, thank You for being our Daddy! Thank You for making a way for us to be adopted into Your family!! Thank You for the GIFT 🎁 of Family!!! Please do Your work today, this week and this year in our families!! Strengthen, realign, heal, give clear vision and purpose, let there be proper order and sweetness of life in our families all across our land, transform America one life, one relationship, one family at a time!! And let all the Daddies rise up!! In Jesus’ Name! Amen!!

Closed on Sunday

Batman says:

Three words, profound implications. Closed on Sunday, where did this habit go? More proof that the masses of people are getting farther and farther from Gods Law and walking in Grace.

I remember the time when it was more common Not to be able to find a shop open on Sunday than it was to find one open. People would gather at Church or just gather someplace for fellowship and then return to their homes and be a family for the rest of the day. Now it’s more common for no one to be home on Sunday because everyone is out shopping or at a movie or eating out. We are being driven by the need to make money, spend money, and go have fun, instead of the need to give God his due and follow his rules and keep Sunday as the Sabbath and do no work. Seeing the sign “Closed on Sunday” on more places of business would return us to a better time and place.

Society today is failing in all aspects and mainly in religion. I truly believe if we more closely followed (or at least tried to) the law as written in the Bible, the world would be a better place.

“Closed on Sunday”

What a concept, thousands of years old, wise well ahead of its time.

Needs vs Wants

DD344CFD-8DF5-416A-9969-414A38D21E46

Peach says: Last week I had to stop by the store, (probably for coffee or something basic like that). While there, I thought, ‘What else am I out of that I could use this opportunity to pick it up?’. So, naturally I chose miniature dark chocolates, because every girl needs her random chocolate, right? Of course! Next morning, I’m showering for work and reach for my (MUCH needed) conditioner and remember with chagrin, that I had meant to add that to my necessaries list for my recent store run. I had to get a pair of scissors  and cut the empty bottle open just to get by until my NEXT run to the store!! Groan!

I told my husband, that I had just been to the store the day before, and had gotten chocolate, which of course I didn’t TRULY need!! I NEEDED my conditioner! I only WANTED the chocolate!! I was much annoyed at the trick my wants had perpetrated over my needs!! That I had hoodwinked myself! It was an eye opening epiphany to what goes on in large and small degrees in all of our lives as individuals, communities and nations.

We often pay more attention to our what our flesh (or sinful human nature) wants, than the part of us that is still learning to submit to God’s Holy Spirit within us, than what we really truly need, what is more of a point of wisdom, necessity, or practicality, and what the Holy Spirit would guide us to. Galatians 5 talks about what walking according to the Spirit will result in, what it looks like, and lists the results of such living, (also known as ‘fruits’, which points to these fruits naturally showing up in our lives, for fruit cannot not be compelled!) I find this most encouraging! Why? It reminds us we are the branches and He is the Vine! He is working His good out in us, as we abide in Him! My favorite fruit? Self control or discipline!  A beautiful, wonderful fruit of the Holy Spirit living in you and empowering you for a good, a fruitful, a sweet and satisfying life.

There is so much profit, benefit, that comes from living a disciplined life, contented in the Lord, knowing good is being wrought inside of you, and in your life, well ordered, focused and according to guiding principles, goals and plans. It makes room for large and FREE and satisfying, FUN living.  “Now The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, true freedom).” 2 Corinthians 3:17.ECE89A2F-B6EB-430A-8758-7BE763C10095

It might seem a simple thing, but all giant, rooted and grounded things start low, start small. And I don’t want to live a small, hobbled life according to my wants. I want to live life according to my needs, according to wisdom, according to a Holy Spirit led, practicality that leads to wide open spaces of grace and freedom! I don’t want to be the ‘Buy now, pay later’ kind of person! I want to be the ‘I saved this up, so now is the right time to make this purchase!’. I want to be that person that eats healthy and exercises enough that the occasional dessert and meal with the ‘extras’ won’t hurt me! That goes to bed at a decent time so I can get a rare form start on the next day!

EA7A962D-44F5-4759-A0F3-962E3843947E

This push mower is great example of Need vs Want! We want to replace our riding lawn mower deck, for about $700. But, this is not something we really need to do right now. We could. But, we choose to do it later, at a more practical, opportune time. Our yard has need for a riding and a push mower. So, we decided get a good push mower, (self-propelled! It is a DREAM to use!) for now, at less than half the cost, and much benefit to our yard! Need vs want!! We end up better off in the long run! Come late July we will replace the deck, when we are good and ready! And we will be better equipped, all the way around, by being smart in planning our money and equipping our yard!

The yard looks good! Our account looks good, and I’m feeling pretty fruity!! 🙂

Have a Little Talk With Jesus

“Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray” – Psalm 5:2.

Peach here, Y’all! 2018. 2018 is some kind of amazing year already. So much happening, developing, growing, moving, changing, advancing! And through it all I need the wisdom of the Lord. I need my Jesus. I need to talk to Him and I need to hear from Him. I need to carry my cares to Him, ask for His strength, favor and intervention and provision! I give Him my troubles, and my gratitude, my loved ones, my friends, our country, and He gives me comfort, wisdom, joy, strength and answers!! He doesn’t need fancy words. Or some form in legalese in triplicate. Just respectful, authenticity. Based in faith in the goodness of His character and love for you. I use His Word to reframe my thinking and help me know Him bettter, and that fuels my prayer. Inspires me. Erases some of the world and it’s thinking out of me.

As I mentioned above 2018 is moving fast, and I thought at the end of last week that I rely so much on the Lord, and He is so MORE than faithful, in abundance even, is He faithful. And it made me sad to think there are those who do not know to turn to Him, do not choose to take their cares to Him. How do people make it through life without that grace, that mercy, that comfort and wisdom?

How about you? Well, as for me,  it’s time again for me to have a little talk with Jesus! I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

E7A607BB-6B29-4014-A425-26ED8E54BD1ASays Peach: Nope! That’s not Common Core!! It’s the beautiful mystery of the mathematic principal of marriage!! One of the reasons we are doing this blog, is we have been extremely blessed to enjoy a whole lot of love, life and years together. Wouldn’t have been possible without Jesus. Plain and simple and no apologies for saying so.  And in a world where marriage is becoming increasingly rare and increasingly put off until later, we hope to occasionally throw out some insight on the benefits of sticking together, being forgiving, being kind to each other, having each other’s backs, being creative at loving and serving one another, being each other’s advocate, cheer leader, comic support! Marriage will never not be a sacred gift from God, to help us and equip us to to do this thing called life!! “Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9
