People

Batman says:

Here in my home town we have several homeless people, they can be seen pretty much everywhere downtown during the day pan handling for money, but they are still people. They are dirty, rude, sometimes aggressive (mainly with each other) but people none the less, they live, breathe, hope, and dream I’m sure of a better life.

And we also have a self named, self proclaimed ‘transient watch’ group. Their sole mission in life seems to be to follow these homeless people around day and night (stalking & harassing), waiting on them to violate a City ordinance or violate a law, then call the police. If the police don’t IMMEDIATELY show up and handle the situation the way this group thinks it should be handled, the take to facecrook (Facebook for those that couldn’t make the connection) and rant and rave about how the police aren’t doing anything to help with the transient population. This group is comprised of fine upstanding citizens (that was sarcasm folks) who believe they are making a difference (they aren’t) and they believe they will somehow make the police do what they want (they won’t) if they keep at it.

Some enterprising lawyer is eventually going to find one of these ‘transients’ and show them the stalking law, or some civil harassment law, and they are going to take this ‘transient watch group’ to task. And because of all the documented calls from this group (who’s main complainer doesn’t even live in the town) to the police, are public record, they have made the evidence for any such case that much easier to obtain.

There are proponents for both sides, me I’m kinda in the middle, I know the homeless (most of them anyways) don’t want to live that way, but they don’t really try and change it. They can be an eyesore in a tourist town, but to be honest, of the two groups, I’ll take the homeless over the high and mighty ‘transient watch’ group who have forgotten what Christian charity and just plain good human beings are supposed to act like.

Exercise

Batman says:

Peach and I have always been in reasonably decent shape, but we decided to exercise a little.

We have the routine we try (notice the try) to do 3 times a week. Nothing crazy and no gyms, just little things we can do around the house. It’s always a chore to get started, even more of a chore to keep going and not stop in the middle. Sometimes we fail and do stop, but we do finish more than we don’t. Our routine would be laughed at as a joke by fitness over achievers, but it works for us. We also bike ride when we can and are pretty active around the house.

The reason for the post is, if you want to be around a long time to annoy Peach, and if you want to be around to annoy your best friend in life, ya mite wanna make exercise, no matter how ridiculous the routine you come up with is, a part of your week. Exercise is important, you don’t have to go overboard, just move around.

In the long run you will be surprised at the way you feel and heck you might even like it and exercise more…if you annoy your best friend to much, don’t blame me…exercise can help u outrun them to…just sayin..

Have a Little Talk With Jesus

“Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray” – Psalm 5:2.

Peach here, Y’all! 2018. 2018 is some kind of amazing year already. So much happening, developing, growing, moving, changing, advancing! And through it all I need the wisdom of the Lord. I need my Jesus. I need to talk to Him and I need to hear from Him. I need to carry my cares to Him, ask for His strength, favor and intervention and provision! I give Him my troubles, and my gratitude, my loved ones, my friends, our country, and He gives me comfort, wisdom, joy, strength and answers!! He doesn’t need fancy words. Or some form in legalese in triplicate. Just respectful, authenticity. Based in faith in the goodness of His character and love for you. I use His Word to reframe my thinking and help me know Him bettter, and that fuels my prayer. Inspires me. Erases some of the world and it’s thinking out of me.

As I mentioned above 2018 is moving fast, and I thought at the end of last week that I rely so much on the Lord, and He is so MORE than faithful, in abundance even, is He faithful. And it made me sad to think there are those who do not know to turn to Him, do not choose to take their cares to Him. How do people make it through life without that grace, that mercy, that comfort and wisdom?

How about you? Well, as for me,  it’s time again for me to have a little talk with Jesus! I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

Priorities

Peach says: There comes a certain time where we realize the brevity of life, the fragility of it, the prescious gift that it is. We become aware of the fact the we only have a certain number of Christmases or 4th of July Independence Day celebrations. We begin to make choices on a daily basis, to hopefully, with the Grace of God and the Holy Spirit guiding us, make choices that will help us make the most constructive impact for our loved ones, our community, the Kingdom of God, and the world. Use that extra few hours to go visit your parents, enjoy old memories, listen to their wisdom. Use that afternoon to help your sibling, or your Uncle. Take that long put off anniversary trip! Go to church, you can sleep any time! Watch TV? Or write? Read FB or read your Bible? Or your new Jentzen Franklin book? Or how about, do you once again pick up that other shift at work? Maybe that’s right. Or instead do you take that day with your spouse and go take pictures, and drop in on your son who lives out of town, and go to dinner? You only have so many days. Use them to do things that last. To know the Lord more, to love on others, to serve, to build.

A major verse in our life this year is from Psalm 90:12 — “12 So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom”. To number as used in the verse means to set, to assign, to appoint, to tell. In other words, we have a role to play, God given authority to purposefully set, assign, appoint, to tell (declare) what our given days shall prioritize, according to His wisdom at work in us! So, go! Live, love, serve, have faith! Believe! He is good! Taste and see His mercy endures forever!

Pie

Batman says:

Yep, just what it sounds like…Pie, brings up memories of yummy blueberry, raspberry, lemon meringue, peach (sorry honey), apple, key lime, chocolate and on and on.

I love pie of all shapes and sizes and tastes, crumbly crust, chewy crust, burnt crust I don’t care just slice it up and give me a piece.

Nothing profound in this post, no great words of wisdom, just PIE

Establish the Work of Our Hands

Good Monday Morning!! Peach here! Hope this morning finds you in hope and great expectations! I like to start the week with a focus of good expectation, from the goodness of our God, and with that; a prayer and declaration, based on His Word, for myself and my loved 301AAFD9-1B29-4954-BB64-684A4B189765ones. Thought I’d share this with you: “Let Your work [the signs of Your power] be revealed to Your servants, and Your [glorious] majesty to their children.
And let the beauty and delightfulness and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands—yes, the work of our hands, confirm and establish it.” – Psalm 90:16-17

1 + 1 = 1

E7A607BB-6B29-4014-A425-26ED8E54BD1ASays Peach: Nope! That’s not Common Core!! It’s the beautiful mystery of the mathematic principal of marriage!! One of the reasons we are doing this blog, is we have been extremely blessed to enjoy a whole lot of love, life and years together. Wouldn’t have been possible without Jesus. Plain and simple and no apologies for saying so.  And in a world where marriage is becoming increasingly rare and increasingly put off until later, we hope to occasionally throw out some insight on the benefits of sticking together, being forgiving, being kind to each other, having each other’s backs, being creative at loving and serving one another, being each other’s advocate, cheer leader, comic support! Marriage will never not be a sacred gift from God, to help us and equip us to to do this thing called life!! “Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9
